This rishi was son of vibandhaka and had a boon that there would be no famine wherever he stayed .Rushyashrunga was bought up in total seclusion of human beings and was always engaged in spiritual activities .He was innocence and goodness personified .King Romapada of vanga pradesha was worried over continious famine in his kingdom in spite of yagnas and yagas .
When he was trying to find some solution Narada informed him about Rushyashrunga .Romapada taught about Rushyashrunga muni and arranged for his visit in vanga kingdom,Rains began to pour and plants looked fresh and full of vitality.Romapada was overcome with happiness and gave his daughter in law to him in marriage and requested his son in law to stay with him forever.
The meaning from the story is when even after you are doing your yagnas and yagnas and still you are not getting anywhere ,then this is the time that you should search for a guru.A guru is not some random guy you find him on google and you start learning under him,Guru is someone who appears to you when the desire to get shri Ram in your lives is very high (you don't have to go anywhere guru will automatically come to you).
And the most important thing in the spiritual life is everyone tells that his method is the best but you don't know who is good or bad,
so i have a solution for you i.e you go through the works of Sages from the past..
here are some
works of shri Aadi shankaracharya
works of shrila prabhupaada ( iskcon)
works of Ramanujacharya
works of Madhvacharya
works of shri Raghavendra swamiji
these are some of the masters of the past who had attained shri Rama into their lives by following their works we can find ourselves in the correct path.
And remember always when you are going towards a path of shri Rama always start from books not with people
